Ameren’s tips for staying cool
With the weather so hot and humid Ameren was nice enough to release tips to help us beat the heat. Here are a few:
Open your fridge and stand with the door open. Your food may go rotten but you have all this extra money to replace it, right?
Buy a window unit for every window in your house and run them all on high. While you are at it why not plug a fan into every empty electrical outlet you have and run it too. Ahhhh, can’t you feel the relief!
Take a hot bath. When you get out of the tub you will feel cooler (Illinois American Water – We expect our kickback to be left in the usual place!).
Turn your air conditioneer to 65 degrees F. Every degree you turn it down is a few dollars closer we get to trading in our Jaguars for Bentleys!
Hopefully if you follow Ameren’s tips they will be able to reinstate their caviar and Cristal breaks and leave that lowly 16% profit they had last quarter in the dust.

This just in, a new tip has been release. While running all of your units on high, with your fans running as well, make sure to have your doors and windows open to help cool the outside, and those without homes who need the relief! This is Ameren’s answer to helping those who can’t afford the new rates.

I can’t believe Ameren left that off the list. We would think with the price of buying politician going up everyday that they would be a little more thorough with their list!

I personally favor leaving all the lights on in the house… because, despite what my father told me all those years, I do think we “own the light company.” Oh, and don’t use any of those creepy curvey florescent bulbs, either.

Also leaving all your lights on will raise the temp. in your house making it essential to turn that air conditioner higher than it has ever gone.
Good tip, Jen!

And if you turn your oven on and leave the door open that will get your a/c really cranking. Come to think of it… you might want to crank up all the curling irons too.

“I can’t believe Ameren left that off the list.”
Well, with that measly 16% profit, they probably had to reduce staff and cut hours which means there wasn’t enough time, manpower or resources to put together a proper, all-inclusive list. Remember, cooling off all that Cristal and Beluga raises their utility bill and cuts have to be made somewhere.
They also forgot to include to wrap yourself in a heavy wool blanket to insulate yourself from the heat.
