Thanks Andrew Zimmern!

Tomorrow is my middle son’s birthday. We have a tradition that I cook whatever the birthday boy wants for dinner. Usually it is pizza, meatball subs, and fun things like that. My son, who is picky, has become a fan of the show Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel. So for his dinner he wants something bizarre. At first he wanted chicken feet. Then he seen the hearts and gizzard variety pack at Kroger. I am not going to dare tell him I seen pork stomach at Super Walmart! Hopefully I can talk him into something that I actually know how to cook. Be thinking of me tomorrow night as you eat your normal dinners.

My inlaws do a giblet thing in tomato sauce…it’s pretty gross but if I had to eat gizzards, that’d be good way to disguise them. Good luck!

Fried chicken gizzards are AWESOME! My mom used to make them in the electric skillet and slow cook them with the chicken breading for 3 hours, and they were always a treat. You should try them! :o )

My Dad used to love to eat chicken livers and gizzards. The rest of us thought it was gross but we didn’t really mind because it left that much more “real” chicken for us to eat.

Oh, I love Andrew Zimmern, too! I can’t believe all the stuff he eats (and with gusto!).

Maybe your son will ask for bull testicles? Mmmm….. I’m sure you’ll find those at Kroger’s!

My mom made hearts and gizzards a lot when we were little and my parents were still in graduate school. I never really got over the experience (and the texture).

I think you can get whole chickens (with their feet and heads still attached – that type of “whole”) at the Asian food market on Main Street near One World. Just taking your son there might cure his desire to actually eat one.

Last night he visited a penis restaurant in China. I never seen someone eat penis soup with such enthusiasm.

The youngest did ask about the bull testicles. He thought the veins were lightning and thought they looked cool.
